AUGMENTED IMMERSIVE THEATRE · 2025-2028

is a performed lecture on the ideology of Silicon Valley. A keynote-performer wearing an XR headset plays Elisabeth, a speaker who believes in what she sells, while most of the headset's interactivity is simulated live from the control booth. The lecture promotes CRANE (Couche de Réalité Augmentée Neuro-Émotionnelle / Neuro-Emotional Augmented Reality Layer), a fictional ecosystem that promises to augment live performance through XR.

No headset is handed out to the audience: the whole theatre becomes the headset. Worn by the performer, it drives the set, the light and the sound. As it shifts from passthrough to mixed and virtual reality, the audience is given her point of view, then deprived of it. The keynote slowly cracks, and the headset turns into a mask that puts her in touch with the ghosts of a life and of a century: a father lost at sea, a dead business partner, an old friend in the control booth who never answers. Here, technology does not augment theatre. Theatre reveals what technology is made of.
